Category: Accessible Games
Hi all. I've heard about a site where you can download games that are accessibel to the blind, called kitchens inc. I was just wondering if any of you have ever downloaded any of these games? I've been to the site, and there's a few that I'd like to have. I emailed Jim, and he told me that you have to install this winkit. zip file, in order to download and run the games, but when you click on the link to install the zip file, it says you have to go down to the setup.exe program. I didn't do this, because I have been told by many people not to download anything that has .exe at the end of it. So, I was just wondering if any of you had any thoughts or opinions about this. If it's not safe for your computer to download something with .exe at the end of it, then, I won't do it. Any comments or suggestions will be grately appreciated. Thanks.
Well, it depends on what you're downloading. I have all of Jim Kitchen's games, and they are fun. Jim kitchen's games are safe to download. The winkit.zip setup file just makes a talking menu system for the games. hth.
Yeah, I have a few of those games. They're alright to download.
I have got most of the games and i like them. They are fun. It's ok to download .exe files as soon as you know that the programme you are downloading is safe and in this kace these games are safe. Download them and have fun. One of his best games i think is casino. Also Starmule is a very clever game but difficult. And trucker as well. Monopoli is good but it takes a lot of time to compleete. From the self voicing games the car game is good and pong as well. The sounds are not very good quality in his games but if we concidder that he did everything for free and it's not his job but only a hobbie i think he did a good work.
definitely. i have spanker and monopoly, i'd love to get the kascino one, i think that might just be my next game.
hi all,
i have most of jim kitchens games, and like playing all of them.
you can also changed the voices in most games
His games are safe and fun; the sounds are fine. If you don't like the MS Sam voice, get other SAPI voices. Now, if only there were an easy to play his board games online, that would be even better. I guess you have to do that over a skype or ventrilo conference or something, with one person designated "keyboard op".

hey, I got three of the games, monopoly, golf, and that trucker thing. Ok, so I open the files and it wants me to extract them, and I do.
I reopen the game and it wants me to extract it again.
I extracted one game like, three times.
How come why for that is? and, um, how do you open it lol.
Right, i read this topic and see that Cala beat me to the question i was going to ask, as it is the same one, lol!!!!!
There are two ways of opening his games after extracting.
The easy one is to download and install the game menu so in your start menu you will find in programmes a folder called kitchensinc and in there the kitchensinc games shortcut. After you click there the self voicing menu will start asking you to choose a game.
The other way is to manually start the games by going to the folder c:program fileskitchensinc and run the .exe file for each game.
I hope it helps
Okay, this might be a stupid question, but where do you download his games at? I really wanna play em! They sound fun!! If somebody can give me a link, it'd would be appreciated! Thanks!

a lot of his games can be found at
www.audiogames.net
I went to google, typed in Jim Kitchen, and scrolled down to the link of his web site, and there's more there, I don't know his actual site lol
http://www.kitchensinc.net/
enjoy.
hey, what is spanker about? lol
Not anything interesting.
According to the website it is an adult game. You hear women saying hi to the left, right or sentre and you will have to press the appropriate key left arrow, right or up for sentre.
If you press the wrong one you loose.
That's about it.
hey, am I just bad at the game, or is that computer player in winpoly really good, or rigged...
HAHAHAHA
I find the robot player in Monopoly to be very greedy. It just buys property when available.
-Dave
Hi that player is greedy. He never lets you win. I could see if he did different things instead of that each time. Maybe that might be a suggestion you want to give Jim.
lol, I finally beat it though. Yeah, and even if you offer your soul in a trade, it won't accept. rar.
well I am very impressed with all this. I use to have a few of his games on my old computer but didn't know about that winkit program. that is such a good idea! :)
I've just been downloading and installing his games here! And yeah for the free games! :)
All jims games are safe no harm.
it's the first time i've heard about it, have got to check them out
well, I've got a few, and they seem to be great. they're a lot of fun.
I have actually won against the darn robot in that game, but it is hard to do. It is more in the luck of the dice!
yeah, you have to buy every property that comes up, and hope he lands on yours more than you on his.
I like his "life" game, though there's a flaw in it that I've been meaning to write him about. If you are playing the computer, and you get a chance to sue, you can either sue for money or for a turn. If you sue for a turn it doesn't take it, you just lose your chance to sue.
Oh yes, in the casino poker, don't go over a billion dollars, as that's the limit and you lose all your money.
